July 24 Transfer of knowledgeWhat an interesting and innovating view on the transfer of knowledge! :)
July 21 writing a thesis is like riding the tour! The temperature rises up to 30 degrees C, sweat is pouring all over my body, my head starts to hurt, I'm getting nervous because the finish gets in my sight......
no, I'm not riding the Tour de France, I'm even not walking the marches of Nijmegen, I'm trying to get my master degree!!! And boy oh boy, the suffering has begun! Not in the last part because of the fact that I've reached the part of my project in which I have to write about research methodologies and statistical procedures...(obviously not my favourites). Also the weather here in Holland is not very cooperative and I've tried to get up early but even then the temperature rises tooooo quickly.
Last weeks Í've had the great opportunity to survey three groups of students at the Montesori College in Amsterdam, a preliminary vocational education college (VMBO). And now it is the time to get to work with the data. The survey is build up in Questionmark Perception and is available online, I hope to get some more (dutch vmbo) schools to survey so if you're interested..... please contact me.
I've read on Wilfred Ruben's weblog that in his research on the Net-generation, his preliminary findings were that the rumours on the changing nature might be a bit exagerated. I've not analyzed my data in depth but what appealed to me very strongly is that on my question if you write or keep your own blog 6 students answered YES and 36 answered NO. This is very interesting data, because it rejects our (educational profs) assumption that blogging could be a very usefull reflection tool and that it certainly would attract Net-geners because "they" are blogging a lot....OK, my sample is still way to short but it gives an indication right? Also, I'm not telling that blogging couldn't be a usefull tool but we might have to rethink about our assumptions on the Net-generation use of media and web-technology.
That's for now folks, I'll keep you posted on the results; planning on finishing up in september....
